Blepharoplasty in Malaga

Blepharoplasty in Malaga

The aim of eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is to rejuvenate your look. Patients come to the clinic stating that they have a look that is tired or is suffering from problems caused by the hanging of excessive skin from the upper eyelid over the eyelashes. This technique consists of removing the excess skin and fat that may develop in the upper eyelid as well as in the lower one. Dr. Javier Collado occasionally combines this with a canthoplasty to correct the shape of the eye and prevent deformities. Eyelid surgery is usually performed from the age of thirty onwards, though in many cases it is performed on young people who have accumulated fat in their eyelids, known as bags, under their eyes. There is frequently a notable hereditary component.

Preguntas Frecuentes

What can we expect from the intervention?

Eyelid surgery (technically known as blepharoplasty) is an intervention to eliminate the fat – as well as excess muscle and skin – of the upper and lower eyelids. Surgery allows for the correction of bags as well as the fallen eyelids that give a tired appearance or make you look older or may even interfere with your eyesight.
However, eyelid surgery will never help to remove crow’s feet, dark circles or other types of wrinkles.

Although it can expand the eyes of people with Asian features, it does not remove your racial or ethnic heritage. Blepharoplasties can be performed as surgery by itself or combined with other facial surgical interventions such as lifts.

Am I a good candidate for the intervention?

Blepharoplasty can improve your appearance and your self-confidence, but it will not necessarily change your appearance.

The best candidates for this intervention are physically healthy people who are psychologically stable and are realistic in their expectations. Most of them are 35 years of age or older, although sometimes they are younger, as, being hereditary, bags are formed in the eyelids at younger ages.

There are few medical conditions which, if the patient suffers from them, make blepharoplasty high-risk surgery. It can even be performed on people with thyroid problems, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease, xerophthalmia, hypertension or other circulatory problems, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Detached retinas or glaucoma are causes for concern; monitor it with your ophthalmologist before the intervention.
