Liposuction / Liposculpture and Fat transfer / Lipofilling
Liposculpture: This simple procedure, also known as liposuction when referring to specific areas of the body, allows for the reduction of accumulated fat that occurs in some areas of the body. The most common areas are the hips, thighs, abdomen, below the chin (double chin) or arms. This can be done at any age, although the best results are achieved when the skin still retains a degree of elasticity. Dr. Javier Collado usually warns his patients that they should not consider liposculpture as an intervention for thinning, given that it does not involve reducing the patient’s weight; instead, it reduces the accumulated fat that usually occurs in people with a normal weight who do not respond to diets. Liposculpture can be performed together with other interventions.
Fat transfer, lipofilling or liposculpture: this procedure consists of the removal of fat from the areas of the body where there is usually too much of it and using that fat to be introduced into other areas. Dr. Javier Collado processes the extracted fat according to Coleman’s protocol, through centrifugation, and then it may be introduced into other areas of the body where the volume is to be increased or congenital or acquired deformities are to be corrected. The areas where fat is most commonly introduced through grafting are the cheekbones, nasal-labial folds, gluteus muscles or breasts. Thus, the patient’s own fat is used as material for permanent filling. We should warn you that there is usually an amount of the fat that is reabsorbed.
